THE REALIZATION
AKTHAR NAZMI
(Translated
from Urdu by SHAMSUDDIN)
Proceed
on thy pilgrimage of Life
But
merrily proceed
For,
the ups and downs of Life
Are
no trifle to trod over
Therefore,
cheerily proceed.
Life
is a storm, in fact;
Full
with shocks and jolts
Tremendous and terrible.
Yearning
is but a burning flame
And
how long can it go on burning?
Just
a little before,
Were
we in communion
Heart and soul, enturned
perfectly.
Alas!
Separation came in between, but mysteriously
Causing distances greater and greater.
Out
of a sweet dream, emerged out
And
came face to face, the
Realization
of Life,
Taking
shape of the dilemma,
Bewildering
and confusing.
The
evening of sadness and grief,
However,
has come to its close,
Yet
what number of flickering candles,
Have
melted away and vanished,
And,
how tears into inundation have swelled.
Enshrouded
am I,
By
the shadows of thy remembrance
And
now I care not, where,
Day
creeps slowly under the blanket of night,
And,
how strange! how wonderful!
The
spot, where I halt,
Life
as well halts,
And
yet again, at my clarion call,
The
caravans lose no time and proceed.
