Renunciation

BY A. JANAKI RAM

There is no passion in me now–

but only a great Peace...

Universes may tumble, cracking

the very firmament with their

fall,

but, I shall stand aloof

and watch

Catastrophes quite unperturbed–

Like the lonely seagull that

watches

Giant ships go down...

Strife, competition, the ugly

race for secular advantage, do not

touch me;

Only, the pain of misunderstanding

still hurts….still hurts...

Nevertheless, lingers still the

Hope:

Somehow–I know not how–Man may

Yet come into his own,

Knowing where he is with Fellow-man.
