“Dream”
BY J. A.
RODRIGUES
Myriad feelings tossed, did dream
One dream of peace, and gave all
to know
What calm could bring, when
tempests of emotions deep.
Had quelled, and left behind a
sunny sea
Fanned by winds of happiness.
Somewhere, a scar
That breasted sorrow bloomed, and
in its place
A flower sprung, symbol of sweet
victory, sorely won,
Child of toil and sweat and
tears.
And yet in the mind’s nowhere
stored,
Sad wistful thoughts did drink
from joy’s own wells,
To leave a quiet but shaken
surface,
Of sweet restlessness and
serenity combined.
