Sunbeams
BY KEDAR NATH MISRA "PRABHAT", M.A.
(Translated by the author from the Original Hindi)
O my friend! they live on the same one Hope,
the snow, the fire and the wind.
They breathe the same One Breath,
They vanish in the same Mysterious One.
And O my friend! the snow, the fire, and the wind are the very
Language of my heart for all creatures of the world, endowed
with knowledge and without knowledge, long for communion
with the same Mysterious One.
When the world was drowned in sweetest
kisses seeking everlasting bliss in the
Land of Dreams,
When the Earth was alit with passion
to drink off the remorseless sky,
I beheld a phenomenon–a molecular
vibration in my smile, O my Deity, which
held behind its veil the vast aeons of Eternity.
Was it not a reviled particle of dust
in immortal glee–a floating
flame on golden wings?
