Baby Star
BY SRIMATI LATIKA MUKERJI
(Translated by Dilip Kumar Roy from the original poem in Bengali)
In the arbour of stars at dusk
I am a budding star.
In moonlight’s magic musk
I ope to love of the far.
I wake at fall of eve;
Cloud-bosomed, I laugh and heave;
Sometimes I draw their veil.
When darkling shadows I hail.
A lisping baby-star,
Homesick for the domeless Far!
