WHISPERS FROM BEYOND
M. Bhimasen Rao
Mere absence of sorrow does not imply
realization of Peace or Bliss. Delude
not, therefore, that you have attained the supreme state of Blessedness.
May be you have neither opposition nor obstruction
in your present way of life. That does
not mean you are established in Perfection.
Reckon with the law of fleeting Time which governs human life marked by
vicissitudes.
When everything follows favourably
after your wish and whim, do not fall into the slough of self-conceit. All egocentric assumptions breed pride and
vanity and spell doom in the end.
You may think you have a measure of
devotion to God. You may have studied
great books on science and literature, arts and religion and accumulated vast
knowledge. An eloquent tongue and
flowery speech you may have achieved.
People may sing paeans and pay you rich encomiums. And yet, do not deceive yourself into the
pride of greatness for, in all of them there is neither the sagacity nor the Wisdom
of Perfection.
Should you offer a prayer unto Him, be
sure that it is inspired by the fragrance of love and imbued with the spirit of
surrender. Rein in the routine tendency
to seek boons or gratification of mundane desires. A desire-infested heart destroys the perfume of love and
dissolves the spirit of surrender.
Never, therefore, ask of Him any thing, instead humbly express your
sincere gratitude with a cheerful heart for whatever is vouchsafed unto you in
His divine discretion. Learn to be deeply
contented. Contentment is one of the
crowning virtues of life.
A nation without vision perishes, so
too, an individual collapses without faith, the wisdom of insight. Faith has
nothing to do with theories and dogmas.
It is a vision of life and life of vision. Faith is constructive force in life and it dares to travel on any
road far or near, through fire or ice and finds a welcoming abode in every
scene.
Faith is a life-boat to cross over the
phenomenal travails of life. If your
faith is firm and unshakable even amidst dire challenges which threaten to
drown you in abject dejection and desperation and yet if you can still muster
inner courage and equipoise to steel your mind and heart so as to welcome yet
greater shocks and sorrows that life may inflict on you; and even as you float
on the turbulent stream of stressful moments if you carry an inner disposition
of rare quiet and composure so as to send a silent, soulful prayer to the Lord
of life, then know ye to be a spiritual hero treading on the Royal Path of
Divine Destiny!
To deem oneself to be a mere straw
wafting at the will and mercy of the Divine is the acme of devotion as well as
wisdom, for, that is the way to be worthy of His Grace and Love; that indeed is
the only surest way to unburden oneself of the dreadful bondage of worldliness
born of ignorance of a beginningless time.
