Tribute to Ramakotiswara Rau
M. CHALAPATHI RAU
It would have been a privilege for me to
preside over the function in honour of “Ramakoti.” I would have been in a small way discharging a
debt of gratitude. Few of you probably know that it was “Ramakoti”
that discovered me; later came Jawaharlal Nehru and others. If I have achieved
anything in journalism, it was because of “Ramakoti’s”
example of strength of character and uncompromising loyalty to standards. His
sacrifices in the cause of the true values of life and journalism are
well-known; not so well-known probably are the qualities of heart and mind
which have made him a great editor. He has a heart of gold; he is most cultured
among us; and his mind is not only a rich and catholic mind but of tempered steel.
I do not know what exactly in him you are celebrating and what exactly is the
occasion, but whatever it is, I am glad you are honouring
him on the occasion of the meeting of journalists’ from all over
I should be grateful
to you, if you could convey to “Ramakoti” my
heartiest greetings, my deepest gratitude and my fondest love and remembrance.
