Rejuvenation

GEORGE MOSES

This unsealed covenant, this imprinted chart,

This unframed scroll, I unroll en route

At every milestone in life’s prolonged journey;

At every port of anchor in this chartered voyage

And view my innocent smile of cradled childhood,

The rippling laughter and bubbling mirth of boyhood,

The unforgettable romances of carefree youth,

The burdens of middle age, its spells of sorrow,

The milk that spilt, the pot that broke with butter

Well-churned, the scars of loss of loved ones,

The longed-for leisure of unretired old age,

When courting starts afresh with Creative Art,

Subtracting years from speeding gray-worn age,

Making me younger and younger at every stage.
