Happiness
Adolf
P. Shvedchikov
Are you happy? Can we measure happiness?
Are you truly satisfied with your life?
Do you have problems with your selfishness,
Are you going to divorce your wife?
Do you think possibly that your happiness
Reflects a level of your success?
You delude yourself, a breathlessness–
That’s the price you’ll pay for the stress.
Do you want to shield youself from pain,
To find happiness in solitude?
How long will that king tranquilly reign,
How quickly he’ll discover that the king is nude.
Man, you have an insatiable nature
You’re pursuing a goal like a passing ghost.
Among living beings you are a restless creature
Grasping too slowly that you are lost.
Happiness is a rivalry between wish and chance,
A hidden beauty with an irresistible charm.
Are you ready to taste the flavor of dance?
I’m happiness...Give me your
trembling arm!
