I LOVE MANKIND

The roaring waves

craving to gain land

as the casurina sheds.

tears in the rising infant Sun.

Apartheid gathering

into heaps of camphor

I watch it sublimate

as I stand beyond the Nile.

Those men with bushy beards

covering the white patches on their chins

I watch them.

Tall-talks, table-talks and white-talks

I overhear

as I sail on the waters of the Nile

I know for certain

there will come a day

when the creeks curtain

all that is gained in the bay.

I know for certain

the bright white light

will inevitably maintain

unity of the spectral fight.

Mind you, I love mankind.
