THE GREAT ONES
SWAMINI SHARADAPRIYANANDA
Behold how the great behave!
The lovely rose spreads her fragrance,
Covering with leaves the pricking thorns.
The sweet-toned cuckoo pours out her melodies,
hiding in branches her unpleasant features.
The radiant moon gives out her rays,
Keeping to herself the queer scars.
Learn from the great, O pretty soul,
and bring out the best,
Keeping to yourself your sorrows and troubles,
The world has enough of trials and troubles,
Help, if you can, but add not to its pain!
