MY WISH

T. S. DEVARAJAN

If all my life were like the rose

that delights by sight and smell,

with warmth and love in the heart for ever to dwell

what a wondrous world it is to live in peace and banish woes!

If all my life were like the stream,

that gurgles tirelessly in the glittering sun,

with a heart set for sloth to shun,

what a wondrous world it is to toil with no selfish aim!

If all my life were like the morning air

that makes you fresh and fine,

with no age to wear and grief to pine

what a charm it is to live a life so fair!
